Maintaining a balance in life is critical to living a healthy life.

Most of us struggle to achieve and maintain that balance.  Living Well offers tips and insights via articles, ebooks and newsletters to help you identify problem areas and make improvements.

Six key areas in our lives must be tended to regularly.

Physical health – our body
Do you engage in regular physical activity?   Is your weight within the normal, healthy range?  Are you eating nutritious meals?  Do you need a little help and encouragement in this area?

Spiritual health – our core being
Do you feel well grounded in a set of ethical values?
Do you have a practice that centers you and brings you peace?

Relationships – belonging to a family, group, community
Are you spending quality time with your loved ones?
Do your relationships nurture you and bring you joy?
Are you lonely?

Financial health – a means of support and wise management of resources
Do you struggle to make ends meet?
Is your credit score suffering because you aren’t paying bills on time?
Do you need additional income just to afford the basics?

Intellectual health – our brain
Are you exploring new knowledge and skills?  Do you engage in activities that stimulate your imagination?  Do you continue to “stretch” your brain – to challenge yourself to learn something new?

Purpose – Do you feel focused on a purpose,
or do you feel like you just wander from one day to the next – just going where the winds take you?

Two other elements cannot be ignored in our quest for this important balance in life.  I don’t list either of them as one of the six key areas because they really are a part of each of the above.

Use of time – do you spend time productively?  Or is too much time spent trying to find that item you need?  Are you living with clutter?  Without good management of your time it will be very difficult to “find the time” for the six key areas we will be discussing.  We each have 24 hours in the day.  Some make better use of that time than others.  What are their secrets?

Joy — a source of joy is vital to good health.  Ideally you will find joy in some aspects of each of the six key areas.  It is important that you check in with yourself regularly to make sure this need is not being overlooked.
